This Privacy Policy explains how Harsimran Sidhu (“I,” “me,” or “my”) handles information when you visit harsim.ca and its pages, articles, feeds, and related features (the “Site”). It is intended to give visitors a clear, globally applicable explanation of the Site’s privacy practices.

The Site uses Google services. Please read how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services. Google may receive information such as the page URL, IP address, browser or device information, and advertising or analytics identifiers when its services are used.

Information collected

Information you provide

The Site does not operate an on-site contact form or user account system. If you contact me by email, LinkedIn, GitHub, or another external service, I may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, profile information, message, and any attachments. Those services handle information under their own privacy policies.

Information collected automatically

Depending on your browser, location, choices, and the features you use, the Site and its service providers may process:

  • IP address and approximate location;
  • browser, device, operating system, and language information;
  • pages viewed, referring page, visit time, and navigation activity;
  • outbound-link, file-download, and interaction events;
  • campaign parameters and advertising click identifiers, such as a Google Click ID, when you arrive through an advertisement;
  • diagnostic, security, and server-log information; and
  • cookies or similar identifiers used for analytics, preferences, fraud prevention, or advertising measurement.

How information is used

Information may be used to:

  • operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Site;
  • understand which articles and resources are useful;
  • measure downloads, outbound links, and other Site interactions;
  • respond when you contact me;
  • measure the effectiveness of Google Ads or other promotional campaigns;
  • prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable terms.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, information is processed with your consent, to respond to your request, to comply with law, or for legitimate interests such as operating, securing, and improving the Site. You may withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent, without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Analytics and advertising

Google Analytics and Google Ads

The Site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and interactions. The current Site configuration disables Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals. Google Analytics may still use first-party cookies, including _ga and _ga_*, and receive technical and usage information.

If you visit after interacting with a Google ad, Google and the Site may process campaign parameters, advertising click identifiers, page visits, and selected conversion events to attribute and measure that campaign. Google may use cookies or similar technologies for measurement, fraud prevention, frequency controls, and—only when enabled and legally permitted—advertising personalization. You can prevent Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing visit activity with Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. The Site or its providers may use them for analytics, security, preferences, and advertising measurement.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect analytics or other features. Browser privacy modes do not necessarily prevent providers from receiving technical information such as an IP address and page URL.

Optional Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement storage are disabled until you select Allow measurement in the Site’s privacy-choice panel. Selecting Reject optional keeps those measurement scripts disabled. Advertising personalization remains disabled in either case.

You can revisit your choice at any time by selecting Cookie settings in the Site footer. Rejecting optional measurement updates the consent signal, removes accessible Google measurement cookies from the Site, prevents new measurement events from being sent by the Site, and reloads the page when necessary to remove an already-loaded measurement script.

Service providers and disclosures

Information may be processed by providers that help operate the Site, including:

  • GitHub Pages, for website hosting and infrastructure;
  • Google, for Google Analytics, Google Ads measurement, and Google Fonts;
  • LinkedIn, GitHub, email providers, TryHackMe, and other external sites, when you follow a link, load externally hosted content, or contact me through those services.

I may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or support a business transfer. I do not sell personal information. I do not currently use personal information collected by the Site for cross-context behavioural advertising.

International transfers

The Site is available worldwide, and its providers may process information in Canada, the United States, the European Economic Area, or other countries. Privacy laws and government-access rules may differ from those in your country. Where required, providers use contractual or other safeguards for international transfers.

Data retention

Information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including security, analytics, communication, legal, and record-keeping needs. Retention periods vary by data type and provider. Analytics and advertising providers retain information according to account settings and their own policies. Messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain records, or meet legal obligations.

Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • request access to or a copy of your personal information;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request deletion or restriction of processing;
  • object to certain processing or withdraw consent;
  • receive portable information you provided;
  • opt out of the sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling where applicable; and
  • complain to your local privacy or data-protection authority.

I do not discriminate against visitors for exercising privacy rights. To make a request, email harsimransidhu770@gmail.com. I may need to verify your request and may retain limited information where legally permitted or required. Authorized agents may submit requests where applicable law permits.

Children

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Site. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact me so it can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.

Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information. However, no website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Do not send sensitive personal, financial, medical, authentication, or confidential information through ordinary email or public comments.

The Site links to third-party websites and may display third-party content. Their privacy and security practices are governed by their own policies, not this one. Review those policies before providing information.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the Site, its providers, advertising features, or legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Material changes may also be highlighted on the Site when appropriate.
